Book Review

The book Miracle in the Andes by Nando Parrado is a fantastic and well-written book. It's the story of the Uruguayan Rugby team that faces a terrible fate when their plane plummets into the Andes Mountains. It's such a wonderful book because it is written in first person and also the fact that it is a true story – not that I’m happy they faced this, only non-fiction books are my favorite types! – which makes the entire story seem more real and be more descriptive. The story has many themes and messages that it portrays to the readers and the most obvious being love. Love is a main theme because throughout the novel he keeps reminiscing on the love his family had for one another and especially his father. He kept fighting with each step he took to reach his father back at home and he did it out of love. Since the book is written in first person it causes the readers to really visualize what Nando Parrado had to face and allows the reader to experience each excruciating step of his journey along with him. I would recommend this book to everyone at some point in there life – of course not for reading on a plane though!
