Biography of Nando Parrado

Nando Parrado was born December 9, 1949 and was born in Montevido, Uruguay. He was born to Seller and Eugine Parrado and is the second of three children. He graduated from the Stella Maris College, where he also played for the Old Christians Rugby team. He is the writer, narrator and main character in the book Miracle in the Andes because of the fact the him and his fellow teammate Robert Canessa trekked across the Andean mountains with no experience of climbing whatsoever. The two of them underwent and 10-day hike with only melted snow to keep them hydrated, the human flesh of their dead family and friends to give them energy, and flimsy tools they made out of rubble from the crash. Nando Parrado crossed the Andes and is very well known for it. After he returned to his normal life in Uruguay, life for him was very difficult but he married his wife Veronique Van Wassenhove and they birthed their two children VerĂ³nica and Cecilia. Nando Parrado, now 62, currently is a successful businessman and a very active sportsman.
